Piers Morgan has blasted the decision to hire Alistair Campbell as his Good Morning Britain temporary replacement.
It has been announced that Alastair will co-host the show next week from May 10 to May 12.
In a piece for the Daily Mail, Piers questioned the appointment, despite the two being on friendly terms.
The 56-year-old said that he agreed with the assessment of ITV’s director of TV Kevin Lygo who said “Piers is a special thing. You can’t replace somebody like him.”

The outspoken presenter noted that these words could easily be used to describe Piers himself, stating: “Hmm, that sounds familiar!”
He also laughed at the suggestion of the GMB twitter account that Campbell didn’t hold back and had some “fiery debates”, considering the way in which Piers left the show – for his rant on disbelieving Meghan Markle – this advice seemed unwise.

He added: I’ve known Alastair for donkey’s years and, despite numerous bust-ups, always got on well with him. He’s also a properly trained and very experienced journalist, which I think every news show presenter should be. So, I wish him well.
But he continued on to blast Alastair for his former role as a political advisor during the Iraq War in 2003, comparing his lack of apology for that to his own lack of apology for his comments on Meghan.

He continued: “But forgive me for having a wry chuckle at the fact that I had to leave the show for declining to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio’s porky-pies, only to now be replaced by someone who has never apologised for spinning us into an illegal war that cost more than a million lives.”
Piers left Good Morning Britain after receiving a wave of backlash and more than 59,000 Ofcom complaints for commenting that he did not believe Meghan Markle when she said she was denied help by a senior member of the Palace when experiencing suicidal thoughts.
