EastEnders legend Michael Greco has blasted Hollyoaks over casting Curtis and AJ Pritchard after their acting was mercilessly mocked online.
The Love Island and Strictly Come dancing stars made their debut last week on the show, starring as dance rivals of Trish Minniver played by Denise Welch.
Their characters arrived looking to worm their way into Trish’s life in order to secretly kill off her career and growing dance studio business.
But their performances in the soap left a lot to be desired with fans online tearing them to shreds, comparing their performance to blocks of wood and primary school plays.
One fan mocked: “AJ and Curtis doing their best impression of those weird acting troupes that came into your school to do an awareness play about bullying.”
Now Michael who played Beppe DiMarco on BBC’s EastEnders from 1998 to 2002 has waded in to voice his own opinion.
He took to Twitter to write: “This is everything and more that is wrong with an industry I love. These people that suddenly come up with these casting ideas need to resign immediately. Shocking.”
He added: “I think people can watch this and learn so much from it. How ‘not’ to act. Shocking.”
Michael later deleted the tweet and in its place wrote: “If they don’t win a BAFTA then I’m done.”
His comments came ins response to Gerard McCarthy who starred on the soap for four years, playing the part of Kris Fisher.

Gerard also hit out at Curtis and AJ’s casting comparing their acting to a car crash and complaining that producers should hire actors instead of reality stars.
He wrote: ““The next time a producer/casting director says the words ‘but they have a big social media following’…. Just point them in the direction of this absolute car crash!
“It’s a simple idea: stop giving actors’ jobs to models / reality tv contestants / pop stars from 1995 / Crufts winners / anybody else who is not an actor.
“THEY WILL BE S***E!”
