Denise Van Outen postpones wedding to Eddie Boxshall – despite not being engaged

Former model Denise Van Outen has decided to postpone her wedding to her partner Eddie Boxshall due covid restrictions.

A fed up Denise, 47, who was keen to tie the knot in front of friends and family, has had a change of heart and reckons she will get hitched in 2023 instead in a bid to accommodate all of her guests.

Talking openly about her wedding plans to The Sun, the TV personality explained: “We’re not engaged but we are preparing to get married. It will definitely happen but we’re not in a rush.

“We’re both getting back to work now with everything opening up and it’s just finding the time, as we want it to be a big day and that takes a lot of planning.”

She added: “We don’t want a small wedding. We want a big group of people and a big party with no restrictions.”

The star went on to explain that because of all the restrictions that have taken place due to the pandemic, there will be a backlog of people wanting to get married, so it’s best to wait it out until then.

But though the couple are looking forward to their big day, neither of them want to do it in a traditional way, especially because Denise has previously been married once before.

The reality star was even planning to propose to Eddie in 2020, but Covid put a stop to that idea too.

Denise previously said: “I was going to propose last leap year but we went into lockdown so it was impossible to do it properly. It didn’t feel right.

“So it’s a joint decision. There is no proposal. We’re doing it the modern way. We’re in our forties and I’ve been married before. For a lot of women, the dream is the big rock on the finger. I’m the opposite of that.

“I just want the commitment between two people. I don’t need to wear a diamond ring to feel someone loves me. I said to him that we’ll get bands when we marry.”

Denise and her partner Eddie have been together for seven years and live in their humble abode in Essex.

They also share their home with Denise’s nine-year-old daughter Betsy, from her first marriage to Lee Mead, and Eddie’s two children from his previous relationship.

Denise and Eddie gave their fans more insight into their personal life when they appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox together.

Reality babe Denise was also very busy throughout lockdown appearing on shows such The Circle and Dancing on Ice, which meant she was away from her family the majority of the time.

Denise’s daughter Betsy was being looked after by Eddie while she was away but admitted that though her daughter and fiancé get along, Betsy “found it tough” being in lockdown away from her school friends.

For now, the mother-of-one has ruled out any prospects of having any more children and is looking forward to staring in Cabaret All Stars at London’s Proud Embankment later this month.
