Love Island bosses are hoping this year’s series will boost diversity after reportedly seeking out a number of bisexual contestants.
The ITV2 reality show has seen a number of relationships emerge from the dating series with some same-sex couples emerging on and off our screens.
Producers are said to be hoping to see more same-sex couples on the show and have been seeking out members of the cast that would see almost half being bisexual.
It is hoped that more organic romances will be formed due to the sexual fluidity of the cast within the famous villa.
According to The Sun on Sunday, producers have aimed for at least 40 per cent of the singletons in season seven will be attracted to both men and women.
The show has been no stranger to bisexual contestants in the past with Katie Salmon being the first bisexual member to be signed up to the show back in 2016.
Katie also had a brief romance with fellow Love Island star Sophie Gradon, who sadly passed away in 2018.
Another Love Island contestant Maura Higgins, who took part in the show in 2019, has also claimed to have experimented with same-sex relationships in the past.
A source told the publication: “Love Island has always been inclusive – the only criteria is that you’re over 18 and looking for love.
“But this is the first year that finding contestants with more fluid sexuality has been part of the briefing.

Love Island is expected to be back on our screens with a new season next month with the show potentially returning to its Spanish Island home of Majorca.
The show has not been on our screens for a whole year now since the Winter edition over January and February 2020.
The summer edition of the show was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic but fans will not have to wait too long now.
