Holly Willoughby has revealed that she would strip out of all of her clothes whenever she came home from filming This Morning at the height of lockdown.
The ITV favourite was so “worried” and “scared” about bringing germs home from the London studios, but felt a duty to keep viewers informed.
The 40-year-old continued hosting This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, 59, each day during the pandemic, with ITV adjusting filming set-up to make sure they could keep to a safe distance.
Despite that, she still had her worries and went to extreme levels to keep her loved ones at home safe too.
She told The Sun: “I knew what we were doing was important, important enough for me to kind of go, ‘No, I know we’re being safe at work.
“‘I know I’m going to come home and wash my hands and take my clothes off by the door and get in the shower and all those things,’ because I knew what we were doing was important so I wanted to keep doing it.”
And it worked out well for This Morning and ITV, as the show managed to get its highest viewership in 19 years during the first week of lockdown in March 2020.
Holly celebrated the smashing ratings and congratulated her team as she said: “We were all a little bit scared actually and so to be able to adapt and change whilst worrying about what was going on, worrying about their own families, what was going on at home.”

Holly is busier than ever as, despite quitting Celebrity Juice, she launched her own showbiz agency to keep a better control over her ventures.
She has vowed to do more meetings at home via video calls, and admitted she was keen to keep her time-keeping skills that she’d developed in lockdown going.
“The kids have really enjoyed me being back in the afternoons a lot more and most afternoons I am, because This Morning is in the morning, but quite often I’ll have bits and bobs to do,” she added.
Meanwhile, Phillip Schofield confessed that the two of them are often on the “edge” of tears while filming the show.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “It’s so hard sometimes and you think, ‘You have to centre yourself’. We are all on the brink of tears all the time, so it doesn’t take much to push.”
The 59-year-old explained that lockdown had taught him to “appreciate the small things” and he’ll never take them for granted again.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
