Carpool Karaoke host James Corden is one who understands more than most how it feels moving from the UK to the US and the star has given his honest take on the Duke and Duchess’ highly debated move to America.
The presenter, who interviewed Prince Harry earlier this year, has defended the couple’s decision to move to Los Angeles and claimed that it wouldn’t have been an easy choice to make.
Prince Harry, 36, and his wife Meghan Markle, 39, stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and has received backlash for doing so since then.
But while being questioned on the couple’s choice to step down by US radio host Howard Stern, James appeared to sympathise with the Royals.
“I cannot imagine any of it is easy,” he chimed.
The Gavin and Stacey star added: “But I do not think any person in such a position in his life is easy. I have never really spoken about it to him in depth.
“He lives in Santa Barbara, an hour-and-a-half away, so I have not seen him a huge amount.”
James, 43, believes that though the Harry and Meghan’s decision was a tough one he feels that the Harry viewers were able to see on the top of the bus while being interviewed by James is a great reflection of him, as this is happy and jokey character.
Later on, radio host Howard tried to also discuss the death of Princess Diana, however James was quick to avoid any questions that mentioned the late royal.
In recent months, Prince Harry has been very vocal about his mother’s passing and how he tried to deal with it as a child.
Talking in depth about his mother’s tragic death on his docu-series The Me You Can’t See, Harry divulged into the harrowing images from his mother’s funeral and how it has affected his mental health as an adult.
Speaking to host Oprah Winfrey during the series, the Royal spoke candidly about his mother’s relationship with the press and paparazzi and said he would never want to loose anyone in his life in the same way.
Despite this, in recent days, former royal protection officer Ken Wharfe, who worked for the late Princess during the 80s and 90s, claims Harry’s decision is one he’ll live to regret.
