Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left flabbergasted on their ITV chat show after their sperm donor guest made an extremely racy Matt Hancock joke on air.
The cheeky sperm donor, called Joe, had appeared on This Morning during Thursday’s show to speak about his surprising new romance with one of his clients who had used his services to become a mother.
However, the sperm donor’s segment descended into chaos after the guest made an incredibly rude joke at Matt Hancock’s expense when he was asked how important his job role was.
During the awkward segment, presenter Phil began by quoting the donor’s claims that he was an essential worker during the coronavirus crisis, saying: “You did say that your line of work was essential during the pandemic.”
Phil asked him: “Are you classed as a key worker?”
Then, out of nowhere, Joe replied: “I am. I am just as key as Matt Hancock.”
What followed was an excruciating few moments of silence on air before Phil and Holly burst out laughing and Phil breaking the silence by saying: “Well, fair enough”.
Holly then replied:” There’s literally no answer to that” as Phil continued chuckling beside her.
However, social media was in stitches at the awkward studio gaffe, with many viewers taking to Twitter to make jokes.
One laughing viewer couldn’t contain themselves as they quoted sperm donor Joe: “Sperm donor: I was just as key during lockdown as Matt Hancock.” before signing off with a cry-laughing face.
A second fan joined in commenting: “As Matt Hancock…” with another cry-laughing face.
A third user then joined in on the banter by saying: “Unnecessarily mentioning Matt Hancock KLAXON”.
And a fourth branded the guest a “legend” during the segment and penned: “HAHAHAHA WHAT A LEGEND #thismorning”.
This comes after Matt Hancock – the former Health Secretary – became the centre of a sex scandal when he was pictured snogging his aide Gina Coladangelo in his Whitehall office after the moment was caught on CCTV and leaked to The Sun.
The disgraced politician then resigned the next day and apologised for breaking his own social distancing rules with the Gina – a non-executive director – during the shocking video which reportedly dates back to May 6.
At the time, the law in England banned indoor social gatherings of people from different households, and guidance urged people to stay two metres apart and avoid “face to face contact”.
Sperm donor Joe also chatted about how he fell in love with his partner Ellie, who was seen beside him on the show, after she used his sperm services.
Despite their unconventional way of meeting, the pair are smitten and Joe said he had feelings for her from the very first moment they met – and the couple have another baby on the way in October this year.
