Parkinson’s-afflicted Paul Sinha fears his condition is worsening every time he gets a quiz question wrong.
The Chase veteran, 51, says he’s accepted answers are going to “fall out” of his mind but he is battling to “make the best” of his shattering 2019 brain disease diagnosis.
He told Radio Times: “Every time I get a question wrong in a quiz that I used to know the answer to, I think, ‘Should I be worried?’
“And then I realise that everybody does it. I’m just quite pragmatic about it. “Yes, I’m 51, and I’ve got Parkinson’s – things are going to fall out of my head, things are going to stay in my head.”
The GP-turned stand-up comic said one positive to come from the illness is his inhibitions have been lowered when he’s performing.
He added: “I’ve become a musical comedian since I’ve got Parkinson’s. I’ve always wanted to and the one thing that stopped me before is that I can’t sing. Now I don’t care that I can’t sing.”
Paul – dubbed The Sinnerman on ITV’s popular quiz show The Chase – says he is convinced the key to keeping “quality of life” while fighting Parkinson’s is to develop as strong a support network as possible.
He added he is also refusing to slow down.
Luton-born Paul – who married boyfriend Oliver Levy in December 2019 six months after he used a blog to reveal he has Parkinson’s – says is he is still relentlessly writing jokes and working on TV productions.
Despite his determination to stay happy and working, he has admitted he suffered a “total breakdown” after being told he had the memory-loss condition.
He added last year he was petrified it would cost him his telly quiz work as “the brain is my job”.

Paul first addressed the degenerative brain condition in 2019, discussing his diagnosis in a candid blog post.
In it, he vowed: “I will fight this with every breath I have.”
Ever the optimist, Paul admitted that he did not “consider himself unlucky”, adding: “Whatever the next stage of my life holds for me, many others have it far worse.”
