Dan Walker explains BBC Breakfast absence as he responds to fan on Twitter

Dan Walker has opened up about his absence from the BBC Breakfast in a tweet to one fan.

The 44-year-old host sent the rumour mill into a spin after it was noted he had been missing from his presenting role on the morning programme.

Ordinarily, Dan would be the frontman of the news show – alongside Louise Minchin.

This caused much speculation, with viewers wondering if Dan’s Strictly Come Dancing stint had been the reason for him taking a step back from his presenting duties.

Louise took to the digital platform to share a selfie from inside the studio which sparked a lot of questioning about Dan’s whereabouts.

One asked “Hi Dan. Is it still a rule that you have to create a bubble and isolate in a hotel with the strictly cast before the launch show or has that been relaxed this year?

“If so, of course you want to spend time with your family!! Can’t wait to see you on the dance floor!!”

Another response read: “Enjoy family time. Look forward to seeing you in suits and sequins.”

And a third beamed: “A well deserved break after the Olympics and before the crazy madness of Strictly! Enjoy Dan x.”

Dan’s ballroom adventure was recently announced, he joined Coronation Street star Katie McGlyn in this year’s line up.

Speaking about taking to the dance floor, Dan said: “My kids have only asked me to go on two shows – Saturday Mash-Up! and Strictly.

“I did Saturday Mash-Up! so it’s time to embrace the sequins.”
