Meghan Markle made a “grave error” by not shutting down her wellness blog sooner after she met Prince Harry, Lady Colin Campbell has claimed.
Meghan officially became part of the Royal Family when she married Harry in an extravagant ceremony in May 2018.
She had previously been an actress, starring in Suits, and also ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig, which she shut down in April 2017 – several months after meeting the Duke.
The website featured wellness advice, as well as items on food, travel, fashion and beauty.
Now, on her YouTube channel, royal commentator Lady C claimed that Meghan should have closed down her blog site earlier.
“She was very forthcoming and that has been one of her grave errors”, she suggested.
“Because even though she took it down, she took it down too late. It’s out there, I’ve seen it, other people have seen it.
“She can’t now say that she didn’t do this, or didn’t like that, or didn’t care about the other when, by her own admission, when it suited her to be frank, she was utterly – in fact astonishingly – frank.”
Posting on the blog, Meghan was honest about her upbringing, once admitting that her parents “came from little” in an article about her family’s Thanksgiving practices.
The actress also penned a piece about the importance of retaining your independence, only months after she started dating Harry, saying it can help “the opportunity for greater growth”.
And controversy was raised when it was revealed that Meghan had written about her dreams of being a princess, four years before telling Oprah Winfrey interview that she had not researched her future husband before they got engaged.
Alongside The Tig, Meghan also reportedly ran an anonymous blog titled ‘The Working Actress’, where earlier on in her career, she detailed her successes and failures in forging a path in the entertainment industry in Hollywood.
The Duchess of Sussex grew up in Los Angeles, and has since returned to the city with her husband after the couple initially spent some time in Canada shortly after departing from royal duties.
More recently, speculation has been mounting over when the Sussexes will next return to the UK.
The Queen is yet to meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet, who was born at the start of June this year.
And with the final months of the year approaching, attention is now beginning to turn to consider what role Harry and Meghan will have at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with an extended bank holiday weekend of celebrations being prepared for next June.
