EastEnders fans insist Jessie Wallace 'looks younger than her age' after seeing card

EastEnders fans were stunned when they heard how old Kat Slater actress Jessie Wallace is.

The star revealed her real-life age to followers on social media by showing a birthday card that featured the stars of the hilarious sitcom The Young Ones.

She captioned the post: “Thank you! Not so young anymore eh?” followed by a laughing emoji.

The card had all four characters from the vintage show with the wording ‘This card cost me 5 quids. I hope you’re satisfied Thatcher!’ in reference to the era and opinions of the characters from the show.

At the bottom of the card, it had ‘Happy 50th birthday’.

But fans insisted she looked much younger than her years, with one writing: “You don’t look 50 happy birthday xxx.”

A second added: “No way are you 50! Happy birthday.”

Jessie, who will celebrate her birthday on Saturday, has been a fixture on the soap opera on and off for more than 20 years.

She first rolled into the infamous Albert Square as Kat along with the rest of the Slater family in 2000.

Kat’s character, known for being rowdy and having a big mouth, has been at the centre of some of the show’s biggest and most epic storylines.

One of the most iconic stories being when she revealed to her ‘younger sister’ Zoe that she was her mum, in a tense row outside the Queen Vic pub.

She also became a fan-favourite when she was part of a double-act with pub landlord Alfie Moon.

The pair bagged a spin-off series Redwater after their popularity reached an all-time high.

The actress also showed off a new tattoo on her back recently, with the ink featuring a reindeer, eagle, and delicate Pagan moon drawing.

The edgy tatt, which takes up most of her higher and mid-back, is shaded in black and white and shows off an artist and talented style.

She was spotted sporting the new addition while filling up petrol in north London while wearing a floaty black summer dress.

It comes after Jessie’s co-star Max Bowden posted a throwback photo on Instagram and she left a bizarre comment.

Max, who played Ben Mitchell, shared a picture from the National Television Awards two years prior where he was nominated for Best Newcomer.

Jessie then wrote: “Remember… if you need a m***e to cry on… I’m yer gal.”
