Kelly Price missing: Fears for R&B and gospel singer who hasn't been since hospital dash

Singer Kelly Price, who has performed as a backup singer for Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and R-Kelly, is reportedly missing.

The reality star was admitted to hospital while battling Covid-19, but after being discharged she hasn’t been seen since, her family say.

The multi-millionaire, reportedly worth around $2.5million, (£1.8million), had been reported as a missing person following a welfare check at her home last Saturday.

TMZ reports authorities have found no evidence of foul play and spoke with her boyfriend, but her missing person’s case is now listed with the National Crime Information Centre.

According to Cobb County officials, there’s an active investigation to find her.

Fears have grown after the singer-songwriter hasn’t been seen since her hospital dash

The 48-year-old had posted a video on July 29 revealing she had contracted coronavirus and was struggling with the symptoms.

Kelly’s family says she was admitted to hospital about a week later and ended up in the ICU as her condition worsened.

Loved ones of the singer also told the news website they were in touch with Kelly while she was receiving treatment in early August and her children visited her several times.

It’s believed three weeks after she was admitted, her children received a call that she had been discharged, but there are concerns she was not in a healthy condition.

The family adds she has not been heard from since and after alerting the authorities, police conducted a welfare check last week.

There are unconfirmed reports the singer-songwriter ‘secretly fled’ the hospital after suffering from Covid, but this has not been detailed by authorities.

The star has performed with the likes of R&B legends such as Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin as backup singer.

She then launched her own solo career after working with R-Kelly and Faith Evans.

In 1998, she released her debut album, Soul of a Woman, on Island records, which featured the hit single Friend of Mine which took the top spot in the US R&B charts at the time.

Her recent album, Kelly, was released in 2011 and earned her three Grammy Awards.
