Inside Joe Sugg's life – Strictly curse romance, famous sister and naked video

Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg was already popular on YouTube prior to his stint on the dancing show, but his BBC debut opened his career up to a different audience entirely.

He had a successful stint on the show, getting all the way to the final before he was beat out by Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton – who formed a romance after their series.

However, it seems Joe didn’t completely lose out, because instead of a Glitterball Trophy, Joe gained something else from the show; a romance with professional dancer Dianne Buswell.

Fans have since caught up with the pair on their socials and Joe’s YouTube channel, but how much do you really know about the star?

Strictly Curse

Joe Sugg was paired with Dianne Buswell in the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing and unsurprisingly, rumours of the Strictly curse began to swirl around the duo.

At the time, Dianne was dating Emmerdale star Anthony Quinlan, but it seems it wasn’t the specific involvement in Strictly that got between the pair.

He previously told Daily Star: “We’re still really good friends – it’s just distance played a part. There were all these rumours about the Strictly curse but it wasn’t that.

“I’m actually rooting for Joe and Dianne. I still think the world of the girl. We were really close, it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Loved-up

Joe and Dianne went public with their romance on December 16, 2018 after it was announced that Stacey Dooley had successfully won the show.

He shared a sweet selfie of the pair as he wrote: “I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special.”

They confirmed they were living together in August 2019 before announcing they had bought their first home together in February 2021.

The pair still remain as sweet as ever and continue to share constant photos to their stream of fans who have been supporting them from the get-go.

Exposing naked behind

Joe Sugg found himself at the centre of controversy after he uploaded a blooper reel which included snippets of his bare backside.

The original video included a shot where you could see him pulling his undies down for the camera to attach electrodes to his derrière, but in the bloopers real they posted the uncensored version.

It came as Joe was playing a Christmas-themed game with Zoella and Alfie Deyes with electric shocks as punishment.

After he was forced to take down the original video, he re-uploaded a clean version of it and wrote: “Sorry for the re-upload… I didn’t want YouTube to get angry and tell me off for showing you all my bum crack… anyways, enjoy.”

However, in the age of the internet Joe’s buttocks had soon made the rounds…

Joe Sugg has a famous sister – who doesn’t often use her surname in her videos. Zoe Sugg also rose to fame around the same time after she launched her YouTube channel in 2009.

Better known to her fans as Zoella, the star has over 10 million subscribers and has launched a range of businesses worth millions of pounds.

Zoella, and her fellow YouTube boyfriend Alfie Deyes, welcomed their first daughter this year named Ottilie.

Fans have adored the pairing since they first launched on YouTube as the ultimate duo, and with Joe Sugg also getting on the YouTube bandwagon, they’ve filmed countless videos together.

Joe has previously opened up about how acne affected his mental health when he was younger, telling fellow YouTube star Jack Maynard about his struggles.

He said: “I used to be very, very self-conscious about my skin, in particular spots on my skin but now I don’t mind as much.

“I learnt that people around you don’t care that much about yourself. They don’t notice the things that you notice a lot more.”

He also said that at one point he struggled so much that he couldn’t bear to watch back his old clips.

He told The Sun that he used concealer to hide the red spots on his face from 2017 to 2019 adding that the only thing he could focus on was his “forehead and T-Zone”.

Joe confessed at one point he was scared to read through the comments because he wasn’t sure what his fans would say.

However, Joe has since ditched makeup for videos and has gained back his confidence.
