I'm A Celeb's Adam Woodyatt fights back tears as he opens up on 'new start' after split

I’m A Celebrity’sAdam Woodyatt fought back tears as he opened up about his “new start” after splitting from his wife.

The EastEnders legend had been married to his wife Beverley Sharp since 1998 and the pair share two grown-up children together, Jessica and Sam.

But the couple decided to part ways and split back in the summer of 2019.

Adam, known for his iconic role in BBC soap EastEnders as Ian Beale over the past three decades, reflecting on his journey to I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec.

The star was being interviewed by the duo as he made a surprise exit alongside Matty Lee in a double eviction last night.

When asked if his time in the castle helped him turn his life around he tried to fight back the tears.

He answered: “A bit. I looked at it as…” but he had to stop to compose himself before adding: “Ooh you got me you bugger.

“I’d looked at it as if it was going to be a new start. There’s a lot of stuff still going on. Mentally, I’ve sorted myself out. My head was in the right place going in there which is why I’ve loved it so much.”

He admitted he was nervous about going on the reality show as he’s spent his lifetime reading off scripts.

“Yeah because I haven’t got a script. I’ve spent 36 years with a script,” he said, “I’m not like Simon. He’s just naturally funny, I need somebody to play off which was Simon. We kind of knew each other from before and it helped – but everyone has been amazing.”

During his stint on I’m A Celeb, he decided to take on a lot of tasks and chores and he explained why he shunned his usual “lazy persona”.

“Normally, I’m lazy,” he said, “If I can sit there on my phone and do nothing for three hours, I will take that option, but in there, there’s no other distractions so you’ve got to keep your mind active, so I did everything.”

Although, the actor admitted he deliberately stayed away from cooking, mostly to avoid the drama and rows between Naughty Boy and Kadeena Cox over the cooking.
