Strictly fans in tears at Giovanni Pernice's emotional confession to Rose Ayling-Ellis

Giovanni Pernice left his Strictly partner Rose Ayling-Ellis in tears as he told her she was the “most beautiful thing that’s ever happened” to him.

The Strictly professional poured out his heart to EastEnders star Rose on the final episode of BBC Two’s It Takes Two – hosted by Janette Manrara on Friday (December 17).

Giovanni and Rose reflected on their incredible Strictly journey over the past 13 weeks on the tear-filled episode, and Rose broke down in tears as she was surprised by a sweet video message from her family.

However, Rose became even more emotional when her professional partner Giovanni told her just how much she means to him in a powerful on air tribute to the actress.

Janette asked: “I need to ask you both, I know you’ve often said it’s not about the scores for the two of you but what would it mean to lift that Glitterball tomorrow?”

A tearful Giovanni said: “I think personally, I think Rose deserves the most beautiful thing in the world. She just realised she can do everything she wants.

“For us we’re just going there tomorrow night and enjoy ourselves but I think we made a big impact.”

Pernice then turned to face her and said: “You are the most beautiful thing that ever happened in my life so I’m very grateful, I’m very privileged to be the one to do the journey with you, so thank you.”

Fans were also tearful at the moment, with many taking to Twitter to comment on the moment.

One fan said: “absolutely sobbed my heart out at rose and gio’s itt interview, i’m so incredibly proud of rose and i’m so so SO glad she got to do strictly.”

A second wrote: “Was it just me who cried their eyes out at Rose and Giovanni on #ItTakesTwo.”

A third commented: “Cried my way through #ItTakesTwo and Rose and Giovanni have my heart. They are dancing to one my favourite songs ever for the show dance so I expect I will be crying a lot tomorrow night as well”

A fourth said: “Sobbing watching #ItTakesTwo Rose and Gio just give me pure joy and I don’t know how to deal with the emotion”

A fifth added: “I’m so happy and also emotional for them both Rose and giovani”

Janette asked: “Rose, what would it mean for you my love to win Strictly Come Dancing 2021 tomorrow?”

Rose answered: “I feel like, it would be a really nice ending to all the hard work we both put in, all the hard work for me to get here in the first place before I had Strictly.

“It’s nice to show everyone, being different is what can make you win.”

Rose and Giovanni are currently the bookies’ favourites to win the show and lift the Glitterball trophy – with Ladbrokes’ ranking them at 1/9 compared to John and Johannes at 7/1.

Rose had been due to compete against TV presenter AJ Odudu, but she was forced to drop out due to her foot injury.

The final of Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday (December 18) on BBC One at 7pm.
