Jonathan Ross opens up about The Masked Singer UK rivalry between co-stars

Jonathan Ross has opened up about the causal rivalry between his fellow co-stars ahead of the new series of The Masked Singer UK.

The highly-anticipated third series is about to kick off on New Year’s Day and it’s fair to say the judges are just as excited about it as the viewers at home.

With a whole new line up of masked celebrities and a slew of new hilarious costumes ready to hit the stage, this series is set to be bigger and better than the last.

Hosted by Joel Dommett, the popular ITV reality show is set to see the return of judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

But after two wins in a row, the blonde bombshell is more eager than ever to achieve a “hat trick” and take home another win on the show.

Ahead of the new show, the talk show host played off casual banter, saying: “It’s quite hot in some ways. We all pretend it doesn’t matter.

“Rita’s the one who wants to really win this series, she won the last two, I think she feels going for the hat trick is a prize worth getting.”

When asked who he thinks is doing the best out of the four of them so far, the doting dad proudly boasted that he was doing the best in sussing out the celebs this series.

He said: “I think I’m doing the best at the moment against all odds, but that won’t last.

“So far, I think she’s doing the worst out of all of us and that’s quite delightful.”

Outside of the show, the star revealed that the judges have been able to mingle more in their downtime as they caught up backstage as to any other theories they had after the night’s performances.

Jonathan went on: “We mingle more than we used to as the Covid requirements have been loosened. So, we do hang out a little bit.

“We all get on really well, it makes it relaxed, it’s an easy show to come to because everyone’s nice.”

But he confessed that during this series, the celebrities are getting harder and harder to guess after the TV personality recalled kicking himself after the show when he had a sudden realisation as to who it could be behind the mask.

He confessed: “A little but of the guessing carries on, we’ll still be saying ‘I’m going to guess this one next week’ or ‘I’m going to guess this’.

“There is an element where after the show you’re buzzing a bit and you’re like, ‘Oh no, I guessed wrong, I think it’s going to be so-and-so’.

“You kind of want to share it with everyone but you also don’t want to give it away.”

The Masked Singer airs on New Years Day at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub
