BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent new replacement revealed as she's still missing from show

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent still appears to be missing from the morning programme after she was replaced by a brand new host on Wednesday morning’s show.

Journalist Katherine Downes joined the popular news programme alongside regular host, Dan Walker- something that has happened before.

Taking to Twitter, Dan, 44, gave info to his fans regarding the show shakeup.

He penned: “Morning all. Another day on the #BBCBreakfast sofa… another co-host.

“@KDownesBBC is in the chair today and is beautifully twinned in green with @JohnWatsonSport. We are with you until just after 9am.”

Though she is not a familiar face to some, broadcaster Katherine has been a part of the BBC for several years.

Katherine initially worked for BBC South East for which she won Best Newcomer at the Royal Television Society Southern Centre Awards in 2010.

She then went on to join the BBC Sports team in 2012 when it moved to Salford, Manchester.

During the festive season, BBC Breakfast has undergone several changes.

On Tuesday morning, Sally was replaced with Luxmy Gopal which left some fans fairly confused.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “I’m so confused which day it is at present.”

Another added: “I had to look twice… Nice start to our day. Are you going to be joining Dan on a regular basis? Hope so.”

Meanwhile, others were excited to see Luxmy on the red sofa.

“Yay. Morning Luxmy and Dan from Jersey. Always great to see you on BBC Breakfast. Jersey misses you but glad we still are able to still see you. Best wishes. X,” one fan wrote.

And another shared: “A Christmas miracle if ever there was one. A real treat to see you back on the Breakfast sofa, Luxmy.”

But things became even more confusing this week when Dan hosted the programme on his own on Monday morning.

Sharing a snap of himself sat on the sofa alone, Dan tweeted: “I’m a lonesome cowboy on the @BBCBreakfast sofa and am working my way through some mince pies and miniature heroes.” (sic)

News of when Sally will return to the show has not yet been announced.
