Jamie Lynn Spears has addressed her rift with sister Britney Spears during an emotional interview with Good Morning America.
The rare sit-down chat with the 30-year-old sees her tearing up as she says: “I love my sister.”
Jamie Lynn, who dressed in a cream suit, spoke to ABC News journalist Juju Chang who pointed out how “things have gotten complicated” between her family.
In the promo clip Jamie responded: “I guess so.”
Jamie Lynn is speaking up now since her tell-all memoir, Things I Should Have Said, is set to be released on January 18.
However, the book comes after Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynn Spears, faced backlash for their alleged abusive behaviour towards Britney, 40.
Chang could be heard asking Jamie Lynn what “caused” the rift between the sisters and the family.
The Nickelodeon star was criticised for not speaking up for her sister publicly while she faced legal constraints.
The iconic pop singer was freed in November from a conservatorship that controlled all aspects of her life for 13 years.
Britney told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny at the time: “I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad… I was scared.
“I’m not here to be anyone’s slave.”
Following the court hearing, Jamie Lynn defended herself in an angry Instagram post.
She said: “I think it’s extremely clear since the day I was born that I’ve only loved, adored and supported my sister.
“I mean, this is my freaking big sister, before any of this b******t.
“I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way.”
The mother-of-two was labelled a “mean ass” by Britney after she remixed the Toxic singer’s song at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards without her permission.
Jamie Lynn’s interview will air in part on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning, and the rest will be featured later that evening on Nightline.
