Hollywood hunk Zac Efron has undergone a wild transformation for his latest film – and he looks dramatically different from his High School Musical days.
The 34-year-old actor is set to star in a new dystopian film called Gold, which has now released a brand new trailer.
Zac stars as a man who find a huge nugget of gold with his partner, and he has to struggle through the desert to hide his life-changing find.
This is not ordinary nugget of gold, more like an ‘iceberg’ which is mostly trapped under the surface of the dirt.
The star looks almost unrecognisable for the rugged role, appearing with a bushy beard, blistered skin, fake bruises, dirt and fake blood.
The brown-haired hunk is also sporting a tuft of messy hair – a far cry from his traditionally-stylish locks.
He has, of course, been smothered in makeup for the film, which was began filming in South Australia back in 2020.
Zac’s character must face the elements, and starts to suffer paranoia as he scrambles to protect his gold.
He gold-digger also runs into a mysterious lady played by Susie Porter.
Efron previously opened up about his grueling workout routine for his 2017 Baywatch role, a remake of the original beach show.
He admitted he ‘almost lost his mind’ when working out for the reboot.
In 2020, he revealed: “I went, like, years without eating carbs.
“When I shot Baywatch, I didn’t have a carb for, like, six months. I almost lost my mind.”
Zac recently starred in his documentary series, Down to Earth – after fleeing America to shoot the series in Australia.
The doc sees Zac travel around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien to find sustainable ways to live.
He reportedly lived in Byron Bay, a celebrity hotspot, and dated Aussie model Vanessa Valladrares.
However, the pair have now split.
