How much Super Bowl halftime show performers get paid – including Eminem and Snoop Dogg

Eminem, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and more all wowed audiences with their performances during last night’s Super Bowl.

The landmark US event is one of the biggest sporting moments of the year and gains huge viewership for its entertaining sports and famous halftime entertainment.

This year, NFL allowed hip-hop legends to grace the halftime performance with some rap classics – and megastar Eminem even caused a stir by symbolically taking the knee.

The stage structure itself is reported to have cost over £5million, which helped Mary J Blige’s soaring tones complement a surprise appearance from 50 Cent.

Said stricture is known to have been funded by Dre himself and included various Compton landmarks – where the rapper hails from – such as a statue of Martin Luther King and the famous Tam’s Burger Joint.

With so much invested in the performance, people have been left wondering how much the performers get paid for this once-in-a-lifetime show.

Halftime show performers do not actually get paid for featuring in the NFL’s biggest event, watching by millions across the globe.

It may seem strange, but essentially the show is treated as one big advert.

The Super Bowl is, of course, famed for its adverts and performers hope that by appearing on the show, they will still earn a huge wad of cash as impressed audiences turn to streams and music downloads during and after the performances instead.

Around 118 million people are believed to have watched Katy Perry’s roaring performance in 2015.

Not that any of last night’s performers necessarily need the extra cash. Dr Dre is already listed by Wealthy Gorilla as the fourth richest rapper in the world, and the combined net worth of Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent is around a billion pounds.

Dre himself is believed to be worth a little over £600million.

BBC One had full coverage of the game and halftime show last night, and the full 253 minutes are now available to rewatch online.

The match itself was won in a tense encounter with the victorious Los Angeles Rams coming out on top 23-20 over this season’s surprise package, the Cincinnati Bengals.
