This Morning fans spot ‘awkward moment’ with Phillip Schofield and Ruth Langsford

This Morning viewers spotted a tense moment on the show between host Phillip Schofield and Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford.

Josie Gibson stood in for Phillip’s best pal Holly Willoughby after she tested positive for Covid-19, just hours before Dancing On Ice.

The morning show crossed over for their usual preview to Loose Women and Ruth briefed them on the upcoming topics.

At the end of the segment, viewers at home noticed that Phillip seemed to forget his manners.

The 59-year-old presenter didn’t say thank you to Ruth after she finished addressing the audience and fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

One user commented on the interaction: “Not even a ‘Thank you, Ruth,’ from our Phil. Fancy working in that atmosphere.”

Another speculated: “We all know Phil and Ruth hate each other. No need for fake pleasantries.”

Phil and Ruth’s husband Eamonn have what seems to be an ongoing feud, which could have been the reason why their exchange felt particularly tense.

Eamonn has slated Phillip’s behaviour and called him “passive aggressive,” while also taking a stand against ITV for removing Eamonn and Ruth from This Morning, which the pair had presented together for 15 years.

The father-of-four was reportedly axed over ITV’s attempts to drive diversity into the channel and he was allegedly branded “pale, stale and male”.

After hearing the news, Eamonn said he was “furious and upset”.

The husband-and-wife presenting duo were replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary who now host the This Morning Friday slot and during school holidays.

Ruth has reportedly also previously made an official complaint to ITV bosses about Phillip Schofield.

It’s reported that she filed the complaint against Schofield after he interrupted her during her preview of Loose Women in 2019, which Amanda Holden praised her for.

Eamonn has also had cross words about Phillip: “Phillip is renowned for snubbing people. He’s very passive-aggressive. It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.”

He went on to say that he has “a good Belfast street fighter” in him and that he would be “direct”, although he “doesn’t go for presenters” who think they have a “special privilege”.
