Johnny Depp sent text saying he hopes Amber Heard's 'rotting corpse' decomposes in car

Johnny Depp once sent a message saying he hoped his ex wife Amber Heard’s “rotting corpse is decomposing in the trunk’ of a car”, a court heard.

Depp’s friend Isaac Baruch was quizzed about the text on the second day of the defamation trial between the A-list stars.

During cross exemption by Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, she asked the witness if he remembered an exchange with Depp in October 2016.

She said: “Do you recall Mr Depp ever telling you that he, in base terms, hoped that Amber’s rotting corpse is decomposing in the f*****g trunk of a Honda Civic?”

Baruch looked at the documents in front of him and responded: “I’m seeing it here, so obviously, yeah it was said. It was written.”

The jury heard the texts were sent a few weeks before Mr Baruch moved out of the Los Angeles penthouse where he was living rent free.

Ms Bredehoft added: “Do you recall Mr Depp calling Amber Heard a c**t and saying it was her fault?”, to which he responded: “It’s written there, I see that.”

Mr Baurch then read a part from Depp which said: “That c**t ruined such a f*****g cool life we had for a while.”

It comes after Heard’s legal representative branded Depp an “obsessed ex husband hell bent on revenge”.

The lawsuit, which is taking place at the Fairfax County District Courthouse, comes as Depp is seeking £38.2million in damages as part of the defamation case.

Depp decided to take action after Heard wrote an opinion piece in 2018 detailing her experience with domestic abuse.

Lawyers for Depp have said the article published by the Washington Post falsely implied that Amber was physically and sexually abused by Depp during their marriage.

Bredehoft claimed several abuse incidents were triggered by “crushing” drug and alcohol problems.

It is believed this includes a “drug binge” with Marilyn Manson and a “blackout” in Australia, which the court was told Heard described as a “three-day hostage situation”.

Lawyers argued the allegations by Amber were false and that Amber was “preparing to give the performance of a lifetime” during proceedings.

The trial continues.
