Selling Sunset is back and bigger than ever.
The Netflix series dropped its fifth season earlier this month, detailing the work and real life dramas of the LA-based agents of The Oppenheim Group.
Following in the footsteps of the first four seasons, Selling Sunset season five saw an array of stunning multi-million dollar homes put up for sale – with agents including Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan making thousands of dollars of commission for the sale of just one listing.
So, how much money do the Selling Sunset agents make at The Oppenheim Group and on the Netflix show?
And, what is their baseline salary?
The Oppenheim Group doesn’t actually give its agents a salary.
Instead, their income is solely commission-based, meaning they only get paid if they successfully negotiate a sale.
Typically, The Oppenheim Group agents can expect to make a 3% commission on each listing sold and due to the high price of their listings, this is normally a substantial amount of money.
One property shown during Selling Sunset season five was listed at $20million (£15.6m), which would net the selling agent an approximate commission of $600,000 ($472k).
That’s enough for countless pairs of Louboutins!
Speaking previously about the high risk-high reward occupation, Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald told express.co.uk: “I think the hardest thing in real estate is working for commission only.
“Spending months sometimes with a client and then they change their minds.
“The best part can also be when a client finds something they love immediately and I make a huge commission with very little effort.
“This unfortunately is not normally the case, but I have double-ended deals representing the buyer as well on my own listing, so this is the best scenario for an agent.”
While the cast’s Netflix fee isn’t quite known, all of the Selling Sunset agents have the opportunity to make thousands more dollars through social media deals due to the show’s success.
Selling Sunset seasons 1 – 5 are available to stream on Netflix.
