Monty Don thrilled fans as he revealed that he has a new granddaughter.
The gardener, 66, told his followers on Twitter that the rather aptly named Daisy Rose was born on Saturday.
It came hours after viewers expressed concern about Monty being missing from Friday’s instalment of the BBC’s Gardeners’ World.
Monty tweeted: “Daisy Rose Don born today, a sister to George. A perfect way to end beautiful May day.”
He has also since shared an adorable video clip on Instagram showing his grandson George snuggling up to his new sister.
In the cute video, the newborn was clad in a pink sleepsuit in her crib.
Two-year-old George stroked her softly then leaned over to plant a kiss on her forehead.
Fans were utterly thrilled to hear Monty’s news and posted messages about it online.
“Congrats on the new addition,” one person wrote on Instagram, while another said a video the star shared of his blossoms in bloom was a “celebration of confetti”.
“What joys are ahead for you all, watching the flowering of this treasured girl,” said another fan.
“The grandfather/granddaughter bond is a very special one. What a lucky girl and what a blessing for your family. You’ll need larger shirts to contain your burgeoning heart.”
“Congratulations Monty, some more little green fingers to help in the garden,” one fan posted.
Someone else remarked: “Becoming a parent brings great joy but becoming a grandparent brings even more. The love in your heart just keeps growing.
“A very fitting name too.”
One fan said that Daisy Rose had come into the world during a lovely month.
“The sounds and sights of May are glorious,” they wrote.
TV star Monty has daughter Freya and sons Adam and Tom with his wife Sarah, who he married in 1993.
George – his first grandchild – was born in May 2019.
