Naga Munchetty praises Queen's 'constant' presence ahead of Jubilee weekend

Radio presenter Naga Munchetty has praised the Queen for her “constant” presence ahead of the Jubilee weekend.

Speaking on her Five Live radio show on Wednesday (June 1) afternoon, she spoke about the monarch and the upcoming celebrations.

As people across the country prepare to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of service to the people, the radio show will be paying homage to Her Majesty this upcoming Friday.

Introducing what people can expect on the Jubilee show, Naga shared some of her own feelings toward the monarch.

She said: “It’s Jubilee weekend, this weekend did you know? Did you realise? It’s happening!”

Naga continued: “Lots of things are going on. Now look, however you feel about the Royal Family, what is undeniable is the Queen has been a constant presence in the lives of all of us over the last 70 years.”

The radio host then informed her listeners of a special show happening on the station on Friday.

Naga stated that it will reflect on the personal links that Five Live listeners have told them they share with the Queen.

She encouraged people listening to get in touch sharing their personal stories and their upcoming plans on how they’re celebrating the Jubilee weekend.

In another segment of her two-hour show, we got to hear from one person who retold a memory of her encounter with the Queen and her sense of humour.

Touching on the comment, Naga then said: “I’ve heard of the Queen having a wicked sense of humour, I like that.”

This isn’t the only time Naga has shown some excitement over the Jubilee celebrations either as she made a brutal swipe at her colleague on the BBC Breakfast show.

Naga was presenting alongside her usual co-host Charlie Stayt when they cut to some live footage of the new Union Jack flag bunting that’s been put up on Regent Street.

After showing her excitement at the decorations before calling the bunting “fabulous”, the camera cut to weather presenter Matt who was waiting in shot.

Naga said: “If you wanted a contrast from the busy city to some tranquility, then let’s go to…

“Well, if Matt stepped out of the camera shot we would have had some peace”.

All the presenters burst out laughing before the weather star replied: “The view would be much better.”
