BGT fans 'unmask' The Witch as ex-Corrie star as they predict act 'will be back'

Britain’s Got Talent fans are certain they’ve finally figured out the identity of enigmatic act The Witch – and it could be an ex-Coronation Street star.

The Witches – who alway appears in disguise – has had viewers scratching their heads, predicting it could be anyone from Ant and Dec in a mask to their co-star Stephen Mulhern.

But there could be a twist in the tale, as fans now think Corrie star Ian Bartholomew, who played abuser Geoff Metcalfe on the cobbles, could be behind the act.

It was confirmed Ian had auditioned for the show with a rendition of his song This Time It’s Forever, which left the judges in tears. But his audition was never aired on TV.

Introducing himself to the judges during his audition, Ian said: “I am from Cheshire. I was in Coronation Street. I played nasty Geoff Metcalfe. He was a nasty piece of work. I started in 2018 and I fell off a roof in the show last year. I am 67.

“The song I am singing I wrote myself and was used in a campaign by Women’s Aid to raise awareness about domestic abuse. I am not here for me, I am here for the charity and the abused victims.”

He added that he’d written the song during the first lockdown, when cases of domestic abuse were soaring – with three women dying every two weeks.

But could Ian have changed things up and appeared as another act as well? Fans certainly seem to think so, as one responded to a post about Ian: “He’s the Witch!”

Another quickly replied: “You have got me thinking now [because] I saw it was Stephen Mulhern!”

“Stephen was seen as someone else on the lives,” someone else pointed out.

It comes as fans think The Witches will be back as a wildcard act after being knocked out of the semi-finals.

One Twitter user said: “Absolutely disgraceful @BGT the judges pulled focus from The Witches’ act causing it to fall flat. They should get through or a chance to go again.”

Someone else followed up: “The Phantom didn’t make any sense? Once again the Witches would have walked this. There has to be a wildcard!!”

“The witches should either be allowed to perform again or go through to the final as the judges basically ruined their performance…” a third posted.

Elsewhere, fans were left baffled as Ian failed to appear on the talent show altogether after his audition.

Irate social media users took to Reddit to vent their frustration and confusion.

One wrote: “Was the actor who played Geoff Metcalfe appeared on Britain’s Got Talent yet?

“I thought that I read that the actor went on stage and performed a song and the judges liked it. Has he been on it yet?”

Another said: “No, and since this week is the live semi-finals they’re obviously not showing him if he did.”

As another said: “Definitely not!”

Britain’s Got Talent continues tomorrow at 8pm on ITV.
