Love Island 2022 bombshell Afia Tonkmor made a savage swipe at Gemma Owen’s age – and fans couldn’t believe what they’d heard.
Lounge Host Afia walked into the villa with Turkish actress Ekin-Su on Thursday night (June 9) – and both of the ladies made a big first impression on boys and girls in the villa.
In fact, Ekin-Su caused tensions as soon as she arrived at the villa – after her and Afia had a date with Liam Llewellyn.
And Afia certainly didn’t hold back when it came to her unfiltered opinion of Michael Owen’s 19-year-old daughter Gemma, who is the youngest contestant ever to appear on the ITV dating show.
She took a brutal swipe at the Gemma when she claimed the teen wasn’t much competition for Ekin-Su.
Ekin-Su wasted no time at all in admitting she fancied Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti, who is paired up with Gemma.
The actress asked Afia of Davide: “Do you think he likes Gemma?”
Akin said to Ekin-Su: “Not gonna lie, I don’t think an 18 year old is your competition.”
Ekin-Su took a dig at the couple as she called them “dry”, suggesting they don’t have much chemistry as they don’t share kisses.
She had Afia in stitches as she said: “Where’s the ‘good morning, baby’? I ain’t seeing this right now?”
Fans were floored by Afia’s age dig and flocked to Twitter to comment.
One wrote: “don’t think an 18 year old is your competition… Afia woke up and chose violence”
A second asked: “Did she really say ” EIGHTEENTH YEAR OLD isn’t your competition”
Another commented: “a gyal said “I don’t think an 18 year old is your competition” AHHHH”
A fourth wrote: “Not Afia telling Ekin-us she doesn’t need to worry about an 18 year old”
A fifth added: “Afia said an 18 year old isn’t your competition. I’m actually dead.”
Ekin-Su was quick to flirt with Davide at the firepit – leaving Gemma looking rather annoyed as it was right in front of her and the rest of the cast.
Gemma later voiced her frustrations about the actress during chats with the other ladies – telling them she thought Ekin-Su had made a “patronising” comment about her.
The Turkish beauty had told Gemma she could be her “little sister” who she could take “under her wing”.
Love Island airs weekdays on ITV2 and ITVHub.
