Love Island’s Jacques O’Neill has claimed he was not allowed his phone and could not contact his mum for two days after his villa exit.
The rugby player left the villa this week in emotional scenes, with the islanders being told on Tuesday that the star had decided to exit Love Island – leaving partner Paige Thorne in tears.
During his first interview since leaving the ITV2 dating programme, Jacques claimed that after leaving the main villa, he was “kept in a separate apartment with a security guard and two producers”.

Speaking to The Sun, he also claimed that he did not receive his phone until two days after his villa exit, at which point he was finally able to talk to his mum.
Jacques also said that he was persuaded to return to the villa after deciding to leave, but the islander made the final decision to exit the show on the Sunday night, saying: “That morning, I spoke to Mike, the big boss, and said I wanted to leave, ‘I’m ready to go, I want to get out of here.’
“He calmed me down a bit and was like, ‘Mate, we don’t want to see you go, you’re doing great in there, you’ll be fine.”
Jacques explained that he had a “welfare chat” and was later called to the Beach Hut to talk to producers of the show, adding: “In the end I couldn’t deal with it, I wanted to get out of the place.
“I was crying, saying to them, ‘I’m ready to go home.”
Following Jacques’s new bombshell claims, a show spokesperson told Daily Star: “We cannot comment on any individual’s medical records owing to confidentiality and our own duty of care towards the Islanders.
“However, we have rigorous and extensive checks in place to assess Islanders’ physical and mental health in advance of being cleared to enter the Villa.
“This is something we take extremely seriously.
“As we said at the time, Jacques made the decision to leave and we respected that decision.
“Islanders are welcome to leave should they choose to do so and we would never put pressure on someone to stay in the Villa.”
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
