Star Wars icon could return as Oscar Isaac says he's 'open' to playing Poe Dameron again

Hollywood star Oscar Isaac has revealed that he would be ‘open’ to returning to the Star Wars universe – as long as there was a ‘great idea’ involved.

The Dune and Moon Knight actor played Poe Dameron in the blockbuster Star Wars sequels The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rise Of Skywalker between 2015-2018.

However, Oscar has recently revealed that he would be open to playing the character again if the right story came his way.

Speaking on SiriusXM, he said: “I don’t know. I’m open to anything. You never know.

“I have no real feeling one way or another.

“I’m open to any good story. Time is the one thing that becomes challenging… as you get older and kids and all that. Where do [movies] fit in?

“If there was a great story and a great director and [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy] came to me and was like, ‘I have this great idea,’ then I’m so open to it.”

Poe Dameron proved to be a hit with viewers following the sequels, with many Star Wars fans wondering if he and on-screen friends Finn and Ray will land their own series.

Disney+ has launched a number of critically acclaimed series in recent years, including The Mandalorian starring Pedro Pascal and Obi-Wan Kenobi, which saw actor Ewan McGregor return to the role he played in the prequel films.

While no plans have been announced to bring Poe, Rey and Finn back to our screens, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed last year that discussions are under way about the character’s futures in the Star Wars universe.

Speaking to Empire, she said: “Certainly, those are not characters we’re going to forget.

“They will live on, and those are conversations that are going on with the creative team as well.”

So while fans will have to wait and see if Poe, Rey and Finn pop up in a future series, it does seem that the force may be with us for a potential return.
