Sharon Osbourne meets queue of people waiting to see Queen's coffin at Westminster

Sharon Osbourne joined thousands of Brits queuing up to get a glimpse of the Queen’s coffin while posing for pictures with fans and gushing over the late monarch.

The TV star, 69, joined mourners who have descended to Westminster Hall to pay their final respects to Queen Elizabeth II where she is currently lying in state ahead of her funeral on Monday.

The TalkTV presenter wore a pair of plain black trousers teamed with a trench coat as she lifted her hand in a prayer symbol.

“I love the Queen and I came over for this because I’m a royalist and I love the royal family,” she told ITV News.

Asked what the Queen meant to her, the former X Factor judge replied “Stability”.

“No matter what would change in this country and, you know, everything changes in life but she never did. And it was just wonderful to have her.”

Mourners began gathering as early as Monday, and by Wednesday morning many people had joined the queue forming on nearby streets and along the banks of the River Thames.

Queen Elizabeth II has spent her final night at Buckingham Palace before the Royal Family led a procession of her coffin to Westminster Hall.

The Queen’s state funeral is expected to be the biggest live event on TV ever with no fewer than 4.1 billion people expected to watch it across the globe.

Live coverage of the historic event will air throughout the day and Industry experts have suggested a staggering 4.1 billion viewers could watch the funeral.

If this happens, it will smash the previous record of 3.5billion who reportedly watched boxing great Muhammad Ali open the Atlanta Olympics back in 1996.

If their predictions are correct, the Queen’s state funeral would eclipse all other broadcasting records – including the Live8 concerts in 2005, Sydney’s New Year Eve firework celebrations in 2010 and the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
