Edwina Currie has revealed she was rushed to hospital after being knocked down by an “unmanageable” dog and breaking her hip.
The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! alum, 76, spent 10 days in hospital after she was floored by the german shepherd while out walking her own pet pooch.
Of the “terrifying experience”, Edwina told The Sun: “I was walking my dog when it came bounding over not on a lead and sent me flying.

“Its owner just grabbed it and went off.

“He never asked how I was. I was on the floor in absolute agony, but he showed no remorse.
“It was the most terrifying experience of my life.”
After being left “numb with pain”, Edwina tried to recuperate her “mashed” hip at home for 12 days after the fall.
However, the pain was eventually so bad that Edwina was admitted as an emergency patient to Macclesfield Hospital – where doctors informed her the joint had disintegrated

Edwina was later fitted with a hip replacement and is considering suing the owners of the dog for £5,000 in costs after spending money on private physiotherapy and dog care for her own pets.
The former health secretary also claimed the animal in question had previously attacked other pets in the area.
Of the “unmanageable” dog, Edwin added: “It’s a nightmare.

“It’s caused other problems in the area. It is owned by a couple and has pulled its female before and she was left with a banged head.
“I contacted Derbyshire police and now it has to be on a lead with a muzzle when outside.
“I’m thinking about taking legal action to get £5,000 back that I have had to spend on private physio and on care for my own dogs.”
