Love Island's Maya Jama issues warning to newbies as she hints at troubled romance

Love Island host Maya Jama has issued a stark warning the new Love Island stars as she hints at her own troubled romance.

As the new series kicked off the stunning star began questioning the five hunks on their love lives in the South African villa.

Making her entrance after an epic arrival by helicopter, Maya invites the boys to gather at the fire pit and quizzes them on what they’re looking for.

Soon after, the pairings begin with the arrival of five girls, and Maya, whose exes include Stormzy and basketball star Ben Simmons, chimes in and issues a warning the newbies, warning: “Don’t forget finding your perfect match is never that simple, trust me I know.”

Shaq and Haris arrived together, before welcoming Will, then Ron, then Kai to their swanky new home.

Maya asks: “Shaq, have you got a type?”

He says: “Not specifically, I go for more personality and vibes but she’s definitely got to be funny, funny is top of my list, I love it.”

Kai adds: “I am looking for a wifey,” while Haris reveals: “I’ve never been in a relationship.”

Inviting the boys to stand before her by the pool she then says: “Well boys, it is time to couple up, the girls will come in one by one and I’ll ask you to step forward if you fancy them.”

One by one Tanya, Anna-May, Lana, Olivia and Tanyel make their entrance into the Villa and the new singletons began choosing their partners.

The couples were finally matched as Olivia and Will, Lana and Ron, Anna-May and Harris, Tania and Shaq and Tanyel and Kai.

Love Island fans fumed as their screens cut out just minutes into the launch of the hit ITV dating show.

As viewers prepared to watch Kai Fagan’s VT, viewers’ screens glitched and faded to black for a moment.

The technical blunder was immediately picked up on by fans who headed straight to social media to voice their frustrations.

“Did the show just cut out for anyone else? #LoveIsland,” penned one viewer.

Another asked: “why did my tv cut out… #LoveIsland.”

A third echoed: “Did anyone else’s love island just randomly cut out to a black screen?! #LoveIsland.”

“Did anyone else’s TV just cut out #LoveIsland,” added someone else.

This year’s series has already featured a new format change as the boy have chosen which girl they want to couple up with..
