Steph's Packed Lunch shake-up as Nick Grimshaw replaces host and fans say same thing

Steph’s Packed Lunch viewers were left stumped seconds into the latest episode after host Steph McGovern was nowhere to be seen.

The 40-year-old Middlesbrough lass usually fronts the hit Channel 4 show – which first debuted back in lockdown 2020.

But on Tuesday’s episode (March 7) someone else was holding down the fort and presenting the daytime programme.

Seconds into the brand new show, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw appeared on screen, live from Leeds, and told viewers: “Afternoon, it’s me Nick Grimshaw.”

He went on: “No, you do not have on the wrong channel, I’m keeping the studio warm for Steph.

“She has left me in charge for today. “

It didn’t take long for the show’s loyal legion of viewers to share their thoughts on Steph’s replacement.

“Missed the memo – why is Nick Grimshaw hosting the show today?” one viewer mused on Twitter.

Another added: “They should’ve let Denise host again. Prefer when she hosts the show. Though Nick is doing a good too.”

“Nick was fabulous!!! Get him on the show more please!” gushed a third viewer.

Echoing their thoughts and singing Nick’s praises, someone else wrote: “Nick was brilliant today on Stephs Packed Lunch, genuinely love this episode with him. Tag him in whenever Steph is off please.”

“Steph’s Packed Lunch or should I say Nick’s Packed Lunch,” another social media user quipped.

A sixth chimed in: “Should be fun, but why not just have one of the regular gang host for the day, like Luke or Denise or John?”

It’s unclear why Steph was missing from her show, but an Instagram Story she posted on Tuesday (March 7) showed her at some sort of event with Alastair Campbell.

Nick isn’t the only celeb to fill in for Steph when needed though.

Last September, former Spice Girl Mel B presented the show For Channel 4’s Black to Front Day, which was an initiative to promote greater diversity on television.

Show regular Denise van Outen and Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton have also fronted the programme a few times.

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weeknights on Channel 4
