BGT fans confused as Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell ditch studio for Corrie set

Britain’s Got Talent fans were in a state of confusion on Sunday night (April 16) when Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Ant & Dec joined the Coronation Street cast.

While filming the auditions in Manchester earlier this year, the cast and crew of BGT headed to the Coronation Street set for a quick look around.

Filming a hilarious sketch in the process, the clip was played ahead of the second episode of the 16th series, but fans were left baffled.

Taking to Twitter under the Britain’s Got Talent hashtag, fans were questioning what the sketch was all in aid of.

Ant and Dec were seen walking Coronation Street at the start of the show

One person wrote: “Great to see a bit of #Corrie but it has nothing to do with the show we’re supposed to be watching!!”

“Obsessed with the random Corrie intro,” added another.

A third added: “What’s BGT doing at Corrie? Hello.”

While a fourth viewer absolutely loved the intro and said: “Great start to #BGT! Loving the Coronation Street sketch!”

“Ant and Dec I just can’t believe that you both are on my favourite soap Coronation Street,” gushed a fifth.

While a sixth person said: I’m jealous I’ve always wanted to meet the Corrie team on set.”

The hilarious sketch started with Ant and Dec bumping into Corrie’s Sally Metcalfe.

When Sally looked at the Geordie duo vacantly, Ant said: “Ant McPartlin, former rapper, current TV host and two time rear of the year award.”

Dec was quick to point out that Ant was just the “runner up” of the rear of the year award, before the clip cut to the Roy’s Rolls cafe.

Judges Simon, Amanda, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli could then be seen sitting in the cafe ordering breakfast.

Simon ordered his “usual” cafe order with Shona Platt who walked over to the table to serve the judges.

She later returned and brought over a plate of toast and spaghetti with the letters “BGT”.

Simon then exclaimed: “Just how I like it!”
