Rap group Northstar were probably best known for their affiliation with Wu-Tang Clan. Signed to Wu Tang Records, the group was comprised of rappers Christ Bearer and Meko the Pharaoh.
The pair recorded with another Californian group, Black Knights, releasing their debut album – Bobby Digital Presents Northstar – in 2003 and going on to release more albums in 2005 and 2008.
Sounds pretty normal, right?
Well, that’s until Christ decided to chop off his own penis and jump from a Los Angeles apartment balcony. He later sought a very unique career in porn – while Meko was left dealing with his own issues.

Star chops own penis off

In 2014, Christ Bearer hit headlines after severing his own manhood while high on PCP.
The star broke his silence on the reason behind the strange choice a year later, telling Vlad TV that he was involved in a tense dispute with the mother of his children about custody and access.
So he decided to give himself a homemade vasectomy.
He said: “I did grab a knife out of frustration that I could not see my kids and I had vasectomy on my mind.”
His manhood was leaking blood “like a water hose”, and Christ confirmed that it was not able to be reattached.
After slicing his penis, Christ leapt from the second storey of a Los Angeles apartment building – but denies it was an attempt at suicide.
But he insisted: “I’m proud of what I did. In the annals of history I don’t think anybody did it.”
The star also confirmed that he was high at the time, claiming on the show Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia: “That night I had some PCP. I was watching cartoons. And, to me, for some reason, life turned into a cartoon.
“And I had three baby mothers, and they all had restraining orders on me so I couldn’t see my kids. But I figured, man, I keep on having these babies by these girls. I was thinking they’re just kinda groupies. And then once they have these babies by me I’m trapped.
“And they’d say ‘hey, I’m going to need some amount of money from you to put me in that life.’ It started being like society that was just dragging me down into a vortex that I could not stop.”
He went on: “Women say ‘men think with their little head too much. They’re always thinking with their little heads.’
“So I said ‘you know what? I got something for these bitches. I’m going to cut off my little head, and I’ll be forced to only think with my big head.’ And that was clear as day to me, and I acted upon it.”
Perfect porn career

Speaking to TMZ, Christ confessed that after chopping off his sausage and having it reattached, he felt ready for a very unique career in porn.
He said: “Does it work?! Can Chris Brown dance? Can Kanye West rant? Can Jay-Z fight off a trick?”
And adult entertainment company Vivid Entertainment spokesman Steve Hirsch told the publication he was “definitely interested” in casting the rapper.
But he wanted to check out the goods before making a final offer.

However, it doesn’t look as though Christ’s dreams of appearing in porn ended up happening, as he later turned to a very different career.
The star later turned to stand-up comedy, performing various shows in LA.
And of course, he makes plenty of penis jokes.
In one clip obtained by TMZ, he joked: “I don’t care how high you get, once you chop off your penis, you sober right the f*** up! So I just jumped out the window.
“I woke up to paramedics trying to find my pulse. I said, ‘F*** the pulse, try and find my d***!”
Tragic death
Despite things looking up for Christ, Meko’s life didn’t turn out the same way, and he sadly died in 2022.
A post from Christ confirmed: “Long live my brother and there will never be another.
“Ladies and gentlemen the one and only Meko the Pharaoh AKA Big Reg AKA Big Meek has transitioned back to Allah!”
He added: “Energy yet is here infinitely in my heart, mind and soul, you shall live forever, Northstar for life!”

Meko, real name Reggie Grier, died “suddenly”, according to his family, who later set up a GoFundMe to help them through the difficult time.
A post said: “Our family is heartbroken and still in disbelief, as we did not expect his life to end as quickly as it did.
“We were not ready for this type of goodbye. At this time, we are asking for your prayers, and if you can contribute financially, it will be greatly appreciated. The donations will help the family through these hard times.”
More than $1,000 was raised for the family.
