Blazin Squad star Melo-D revealed he debated going on Love Island before his bandmate Marcel Sommerville did.
Marcel went on the third series of the show back in 2017 and was well-known for dropping hints about his band’s fame in the villa.
But it turns out the group were asked by their management if they wanted to try out for the show.

Melo-D, real name Chris McKeckney, spoke to us exclusively about the time he considered going on, but his dreams were crushed by his wife.
Chris is married to mum-of-one Mia Marley, who gave birth to their young son Rio last year.
He said: “Yeah, there was an email sent around saying to try out for Love Island and management asked if we wanted to try it, and obviously Marcel ended up doing it.
“But I thought ‘Why not?’ and spoke to my wife about it and she said ‘Don’t you know what that is?’
“I’d never seen it so I had no idea and just thought it could be fun, but she understandably said ‘Absolutely not’.”
Chris and other members Spike-E, real name Sam Foulkes, also claim the band is more of a “side hustle” nowadays.
After their four-year reign in the noughties, they are now back performing their greatest hits on stages across the country.
Sam said: “For a boyband like us in our day, our longevity was about three-four years, whereas nowadays I’d say it’s far less. And my biggest advice is, when you come down, go and get a normal job.
“You need to appreciate what you’ve done but don’t dwell on being down too long as that will make you feel sad.
“The best thing you can do is get a normal job because no one cares… When I walked into my first office job, a few people asked if I was Blazin’ Squad and they asked me a few questions and that was it.”
Chris added: “We all got normal jobs very quickly. My first job after Squad was still in the music industry, I was working with a music royalty company.
“Where I was an artist receiving them, I was then sending them out instead and Marcel came and worked with me there.
“Now, I work with an old school friend of mine, it’s just the two of us. It’s his business and it’s a security alarm company which is quite cool now, as again when I was doing Squad stuff which is quite cool because I’m working with mates again.”
