Strictly’s Zara McDermott pays touching tribute to late grandma after training day

Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott shared a touching tribute to her late grandmother after her first day of training ahead of the upcoming series.

On Monday (September 11), the former Love Island star took to Instagram to share a series of behind-the-scenes snaps from her first day of dance rehearsals.

Taking to her Instagram, the blonde bombshell could be seen wearing a skintight Lycra playsuit as she posed up a storm in front of the floor-length mirror in the dance studio.

After wrapping up a fun-filled day dancing the day away, the documentary maker reflected on her journey on the show so far.

As she celebrated the joys of training, she shared her love for her late grandmother who was a huge fan of the show.

Sharing a sweet throwback snap of herself as a child with her late relative, she wrote: “Day 1 of Strictly training! [heart emoji, dancing woman emoji].

“I know my Nanny is up in heaven watching down on me and she is so proud. Strictly was her favourite show in the world.”

Zara added: “I wish she could be here to live this experience with her [crying emoji, heart emoji]. I’m going to be picturing her in the audience every week… I know she’ll be there [pink heart emoji].”

It comes after the TV star shared her hopes for her first week on the dance floor in her opening VT ahead of the launch show.

She said: “I am a Strictly super fan, I’ve been watching this show since I was a seven-year-old little girl dancing round the living room with my nanny.

“Dancing live on national television is not something that I’ve thought too deeply into at this point because I think I will get overwhelmed.

“Craig is obviously the harshest judge for sure, and I’m definitely a bit scared of him and scared of what he’s going to say but if I get a three in week one, I’m happy.”

“One of my favourite songs of all time is Grenade by Bruno Mars, I love that song so much but I’m more excited for the spray tans, for the hair, for the makeup. Just for the whole looks, really.”

Fans will have to stay tuned to see how she will progress on the infamous ballroom with her professional dancer.
