Strictly’s Angela Rippon suffers wardrobe malfunction as pro Kai comes to her rescue

Angela Rippon suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction following her latest performance on strictly -come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing.

For the fourth week of the BBC One dance competition, the former broadcaster danced the Rumba to Rise Like A Phoenix by Conchita Wurst which scored her an impressive 31 points out of 40. Taking to the dancefloor, the blonde bombshell looked nothing short of sensational as she waltzed around the dancefloor in a beautiful red gown and a pair of nude pink heels.

But after finishing their impressive performance, the TV legend – who celebrated her 79th birthday this week – suffered a wardrobe mishap when her shoe got stuck in the ballroom flooring and almost slipped off her foot. Luckily, Kai managed to wiggle the heel out while host Tess Daly held onto her arm.

After correcting her footwear, the dancing duo joined Claudia Winkleman in the dressing room where Judge Craig Revel Horwood admitted he “totally and absolutely loved” the routine. The duo took home three eights and a seven from the judging panel, placing them in the middle of the leaderboard.

Earlier this week, Angela shared her chilling secret to avoid causing injuries on the dancefloor which has kept her so nimble on her feet. She explained that once or twice a week she uses sub-zero temperatures to help her muscles recover from her gruelling training days.

She told The Mirror the details of her weekly routine which includes standing in freezing temperatures for three minutes at a time. She told the publication: “I stand in them at 120 degrees below freezing for three minutes.

“It’s so relaxing, I can’t tell you. I’ve put my body maintenance very high as a priority,” she explained. The broadcaster insisted that she wasn’t fooling anyone but wanted to make she is looking after herself on the show.

She continued: “I’m not daft… I’ll be 79 next week and while my head is saying, ‘You’re having a lovely time, Ange,’ my body is saying, ‘What the hell do you think you’re doing to me?’.” The star has been paired up with professional dancer Kai, 28, who has been working with the broadcaster to improve her ballroom skills on the dancefloor.

Angela admitted that she has danced all her life so that’s probably the reason she can still reach those high kicks to an impressive level without sustaining any injuries. According to the former presenter, she’s the only woman on the show who hasn’t had any blisters on her feet or suffered any injuries.

“I think I’ve chosen my shoes wisely,” she told The Mirror. The TV star has been squeezing in training everywhere she can, most recently at the Pride of Britain Awards last week. After learning about his impressive fundraising skills, Angela invited ITV Fundraiser of the Year winner John Burkhill on stage to practice her impressive Rumba.

She told him: “I’ve got a cheque for you, which I would like to put in your pram, which is the start of n new week’s fundraising for you. But, you’ve got to do something for it. Will you dance with me, John?” The fundraiser jumped at the opportunity and immediately started dancing with her and spinning her around the stage.

The star-studded audience immediately burst into applause and cheered them along as they shared a sweet embrace at the end of the quick waltz.
