First Date fans were left complaining after they noticed that the show’s narrator has been changed.
The brand new series had viewers glued to their screens on Tuesday night (January 2) as Fred Sirieix returned to a new restaurant in Bath. With a brand new set of daters trying to find love, viewers couldn’t wait to see what was in store.
But eagle-eyed fans noticed a major alteration with the new series, as they spotted that the voiceover had changed. Viewers had grown used to the dulcet tones of Brian Protheroe, but a female voice was heard on the latest episode.

Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter in their droves, some viewers were not too keen on the change in format.
One fan said: “The voice over different… I don’t like it.” Another said: “I can’t believe it’s been 10 years #FirstDates and still going strong and I’m not so sure about the new opening credits or the voice over person or I’m not so keen on the new logo but I’ll get used to it as I love the show.”
Meanwhile, a third person had a question for show producers. The social media user asked: “Why has #FirstDates changed the voice over guy?”
The First Dates’ narrator has changed a couple of times since the show first kicked off in 2013. But since 2015, the narrator’s voice has been that of Brian Protheroe. At the moment the person who is responsible for narrating the popular programme is Daisy May.
During the new series of the hit dating show, fans were left gobsmacked by a dater named Mercedes who went on a date with a young gentleman named Greg. But before the pair could enjoy their meal, fans at home were certain that they weren’t a match and that Mercedes would “eat Greg alive”.
But later on, Mercedes who studied Neuroscience at university left Greg stunned when she revealed that she was also on subscription site, OnlyFans. Talking in her confessional, Mercedes admitted that she was responsible for “erections around the world”.
Fans at home were loving Mercedes honesty with one taking to social media to write: “I love Mercedes. She has such a pure heart. A smart girl to get a 1st at university & if that’s how she makes her money. No judgement. At first you wouldn’t have put the 2 together but then they turned out to be so sweet. I love how she asked if he was a criminal lol.”
