The Traitors star appeared on another game show before – but ending was mortifying

Paul Gorton has been one to watch as the newest series of The Traitors continues to heat up.

Gorton, 36, is looking to cash in on the potentially gigantic cash prize being offered in the hit BBC reality game show. Together with fellow Harry, Miles and Ash, it has been his goal to slowly murder the ‘faithful’ so the Traitors can win up to £30,000 each.

But as he continues with his gameplan to sweeten the other players to avoid putting him up for banishment, it turns out Paul is no stranger to being on the silver screen. In an old clip that has resurfaced online, Paul could be seen in an iconic gameshow from over a decade ago.

In 2010, the business manager and comedian was lucky enough to make it on to one of the most popular game shows of the time – Deal or No Deal. He was also fortunate enough to be picked to play the game alongside host Noel Edmonds, helping guide him through the show.

Aged just 22 at the time, Paul looks almost unrecognisable as he ditched the ginger locks in favour for a darker brown look. When he appeared on the show, which was airing on Channel 4 at the time, he was unemployed and living together with his girlfriend in Warrington – together with his mum.

However, the Manchester-born lad had higher hopes for himself as he was secretly hoping that the show could lead to greater things. He admitted whilst on the programme that, as well as a potentially life-changing £250k, he would love to land a sweet modelling deal after appearing on the show, though this would not materialise.

Things would go from bad to worse for Paul as his game on the show would go horrendously. After opening twenty of the twenty-two boxes, he was left with the possibility of winning either 10p or £10, with Noel opening Gorton’s box to reveal he was winning a measly 10p.

Speaking to iNews in the run-up to the new BBC series, Paul was filled with love and admiration for former host Noel. “I don’t know whether that was just me, but I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. You know, some people are just born for the job they’re in,” he gushed.

But Paul’s stint on the legendary gameshow was not the only one from this year’s cast. Another one of the show’s faithful, Kyra Johnson, recently appeared on the programme’s reboot on ITV, airing just two months ago.

Luckily for Kyra, despite taking out two of the five highest-value boxes, she was able to take more money from the show than Paul. With two boxes left between £1 and £4,000, Kyra opted to take the Banker’s offer for £1,800.

The Traitors airs every Wednesday to Friday at 9pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
