Death In Paradise fans complain minutes into 100th episode after spotting major change

BBC’s Death In Paradise fans were left disgruntled just minutes into the new series as they noticed a significant change.

The show’s 100th episode saw DI Neville Parker, played by Ralf Little, return to solve more murders in Saint Marie, but this time it was personal when Commissioner Selwyn Patterson was targeted by an unknown attacker.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their confusion and disappointment after realising the show had been moved from its usual weekday slot to a Sunday evening

One viewer tweeted: “@deathinparadise Not happy this will be on a Sunday . I loved it on a Friday with a glass of wine or two . I will have to watch on catch up #DeathInParadise,” while another added: “Sunday? Sunday? Death In Paradise is a Friday show!!”

Despite the scheduling shake-up, some viewers were simply delighted to see the show return. One fan shared: “I can’t wait! Seeing the sunshine on yet another cloudy and wet day here!” while another enthused: “Can’t wait, it’s my favourite programme on TV.” Shantol Jackson, who plays DS Naomi Thomas in the show, has spoken about the heart-breaking scenes with the Commissioner.

She said: “It was devastating. The Commissioner is a beloved character and has been with Death in Paradise since day one – it’s kind of a thing where you never know when someone might go. I think the audience’s first reaction will be, ‘Oh my gosh, is Don leaving the show?’ and ‘Is the Commissioner actually going to die?'”

Tahj Miles, who portrays Officer Pryce, shared how his character deals with the shock: “It hits him very hard, he’s in shock and disbelief. But looking around the team, you think it’s hitting him the least because at the end of the day, Marlon is used to seeing this kind of stuff around him, because of where he came from.

“He’s used to hearing about the shootings of friends and colleagues. But he didn’t ever think that that kind of thing would happen to people that are close to him in the police station, especially the Commissioner, who’s the most respected person on the island, bar Catherine.”
