Emmerdale newcomer Caleb Milligan may have nothing to do with the Dingles after all – after he positioned himself as a cuckoo in the nest, brother to both Cain and Chas.
Now an explosive fan theory has suggested that Caleb isn’t actually related to the Dales’ most famous family after all, and could simply be posing as their relative as part of an overarching scheme. Despite claiming to be Faith’s son and meeting Cain as teenagers, Caleb might be part of a more terrifying plot.
Keen to air their theories via Facebook, one eagle-eyed fan suggested: “I don’t think Caleb is Cain’s brother?” as someone else quickly agreed: “I don’t think they are brothers either.” Delving deeper into the conspiracy theory, one viewer said: “I think Caleb is out to destroy the Dingles – revenge, maybe?”

“I think Caleb and Ruby are trying to split the Dingles up,” another said. While another fan penned the shocking suggestion: “OMG just imagine if Ruby was Cain’s sister instead?!”
Caleb has already been up to no good in the village, conducting an affair with Tracy and leading to devastation for his own nephew Nate. He also schemed to steal the farm from under Moira’s feet during his revenge attempt at Kim Tate. Now he’s back romping with his estranged wife, and fans think it could get much worse before it gets better.
But others think Caleb is a Dingle through and through, penning: “When Caleb went to visit Cain in prison, he knew who he was straight away?” While another pointed out: “They met before years ago when Caleb came to town to search for his mother. Chas was still going to school at the time?”
Another said: “What makes you think that? Caleb had his birth certificate that proved he’s Faith’s son, he had a pic of her, so why would he go to all that trouble just to lie about being a part of the Dingle family?”
It’s clear his wife Ruby isn’t impressed by the Dingles after heading round to Wishing Well Cottage for Belle’s hen party. Disgusted by Steve, Lydia’s stuffed bird, and the general state of the place, she raised her view with Caleb who shut her down – but Ruby doubled down.
“Are you sure you’re related to these people?” she quizzed, as Caleb snapped: “I’m sure.” But it could all be a hint at an upcoming storyline featuring a pretty epic DNA twist.
