BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent issued a two-word response to her co-presenter Jon Kay after he suggested the pair have lunch together.
It followed a preview of today’s installment of Morning Live with Gaby Roslin and Gethin Jones, who revealed chef John Gregory-Smith would be on hand to provide viewers with details on how to get the best out of frozen spinach.
After Gethin used the opportunity to showcase his best impression of Popeye – famed for his love of spinach – back in the Breakfast studio Sally declared: “I’m looking forward to this item on spinach. It’s my favourite thing to cook.”

Addressing Jon, she continued: “I don’t think I’ve ever made you Popeye pasta. It’s great. Oh it’s super. Spinach, cheese, garlic and spaghetti – best thing ever. It gives you muscles, apparently.”
Raising an eyebrow, Jon asked in hope: “Lunch?” Sally responded: “Yes, okay.” “I’m in!” John added, smiling. “Gaby and Gething – Olive Oil and Popeye.” Sally then asked: “Is that us?”
It follows Jon’s warning to Sally last week that he has “unlimited access” to her past after sharing a throwback snap of her on screen. During a segment in which they discussed the new series of Race Across The World, Jon shared an old photo of himself travelling across the Eastern continent, in which he could be seen biking through China.
“Do you want to see a picture I’ve found?” he asked Sally. “This is me backpacking around 25 years ago or something in China. The backpack’s not quite big enough though!”
Sally quipped: “I was just going to say, Jon – you need a bigger bag.” Moving on, Jon continued: “Now Sally said she didn’t have any pictures. Well, you have – here you go.”
An old snap of Sally then appeared on screen of her clinging on to a tree branch. “Oh, where am I?” asked Sally, confused. “This is you – your route was blocked – I think you’re camping in North Wales.”
Sally responded: “Oh okay. I don’t even remember. Well done.” Jon then explained how he sourced the retro shot: “You know when you added me to that group of your friends on WhatsApp? I’ve now got unlimited access to your whole life, Sally!”
