Olly Alexander turned heads at the BAFTA TV Awards in 2022 with his new look featuring bleached eyebrows – just two years before his controversial Eurovision stint.
The actor and singer didn’t perform too well at this year’s Eurovision, scoring just 46 points overall, and a devastating nul points from the audience score. His stage – which saw him and four shirtless male dancers in a grotty bathroom – also caught a lot of heat from angry viewers.
But Olly has always been daring with his style, as he proved two years ago at the BAFTA TV Awards. The singer made a statement on the red carpet donning a cape and showcasing his bleached brows.

The black cape was fashioned as a frilled shirt at the front, complete with buttons leading up to a high-necked, frilled collar. Olly paired the dramatic cape with jeans and a black belt, with the cape being the standout piece.

Adding more flair to his ensemble, Olly strutted down the red carpet in large platform laced boots, reports the Express. The It’s a Sin star accessorised his outfit with a silver necklace, rings and stud earrings.
In addition to his striking bleached eyebrows, Olly sported a closely-shaved head on either side. The hair on top of his head was thicker and shaved into stripes, adding an extra edge to his already bold outfit.

The Channel Four series It’s A Sin, penned and created by Russell T Davies, bagged the most BAFTA television award nominations in 2022. Sadly, it failed to win any on the night.
The show garnered 11 nominations, comprising five in the craft categories and six in the television awards categories. They included nods for Davies in the best writer: drama category and Years and Years singer Olly Alexander for leading actor for his portrayal of Ritchie Tozer.

Olly didn’t fair much better on his own at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. He came 18th out of 25 acts.
In the end, Switzerland act Nemo won the show with 591 points. Ireland did much better than usual, with their act Bambie Thug breaking into the top six.
Olly’s controversial performance wasn’t the only scandal of the day though. Hours before the show kicked off, Netherlands act Joost Klein was disqualified.
