John Cleese has admitted he hates posing for selfies.
The comedy legend gets asked to do them by fans whenever he’s out and about. And every time, he’s secretly irritated just like his Fawlty Towers character Basil.
He told the Daily Star: “I don’t like selfies. For people of my generation, having a selfie suggests that you have a relationship with them.

“But in fact, it’s just the three seconds before it that they said, ‘Can I have a selfie?’.”
John was mobbed by fans when he attended the opening night of a new stage version of Fawlty Towers in London on Thursday. The show has had rave reviews from critics and is now almost sold out for the rest of the month.
Basil is played by Adam Jackson-Smith, who has appeared in the likes of EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Doctors. Sybil is played by Anna-Jane Casey, who has also had roles in a number of soaps and even Family Guy.
Reviews have been rolling in already, with many awarding it five stars. One person said: “A very funny production. Well acted and very true to the original TV series. Excellent spoken and visual comedy. We enjoyed it very much and laughed a great deal.”
Another said: “So, so very happy with this production. A must see for all fans of Fawlty Towers the TV series.”
And someone else added: “We had a fantastic time, great script true to the original series and an exceptional cast.”
