Tina Malone’s heartbreaking final texts from husband as he begs her ‘forgive me’

Tina Malone has revealed heartbreaking final texts from husband Paul Chase as he begged “forgive me”.

The 41-year-old soldier tragically took his own life in March, with his Shameless star wife believing that his anxiety and depression had been triggered by PTSD. Tina claims his illness – of which he had received a formal diagnosis three years prior – ultimately led to his death.

On reflection, Tina confessed that she knew straight away that there was something terribly wrong. Her husband had first failed to come home and then she heard the sirens as the police came to visit her home.

Speaking with OK!, Tina was in tears as she opened up about Paul’s final texts to her. In the early hours of the morning, Paul begged her for forgiveness just hours before he died, sadly leaving behind Tina and their 10-year-old daughter Flame.

He wrote: “Tina, you gave me everything. I love you unconditionally. You made my life perfect throughout the chaos. Forgive me.” The Brookside soap star went on to reveal, that she didn’t receive his message until the police were already at her door.

The 61-year-old emotionally told the publication: “The texts were sent at about 4am but I have an old phone and they didn’t come through straight away. When they finally arrived the police were already at my house breaking the news that he’d gone.”

Paul leaves behind his wife Tina and their daughter Flame

Recalling the moment that Tina’s worst nightmare became a reality, she spoke about the police arriving at her Liverpool home. She said: “Paul hadn’t come home the previous night. There are woods opposite the house and as I was leaving to take Flame to school I heard sirens and saw flashing blue lights and I knew. I just knew.”

She added: “I got home and then there was a knock. When I opened the door the police were there. I said, ‘It’s Paul isn’t it?’ We’d been through hell in the 12 months before he died. He had felt so lost, so useless. He couldn’t fight any more.”

Tina doesn’t want Paul to have died in vein and is therefore speaking up about his suicide

Tina is adamant that Paul, who had been nicknamed “Chevy” by his army friends due to his surname Chase, will have not died in vain. She is now doing everything in her power to raise awareness on suicide.

The television star explained that there simply isn’t enough support in place as she’s no longer going to go quiet on the matter. She is hoping that speaking out will at least encourage others to talk, in the way she wishes Paul had.
