Strictly’s Giovanni to reunite with BBC judges after Amanda Abbington sobs on stage

Giovanni Pernice is all set for a dazzling reunion with fellow Strictly Come Dancing stars, amid the recent drama swirling around the popular BBC show.

The 33-year-old dance maestro won’t be grooving in the next series of Strictly, but he’s busy prepping for a sparkly meetup with judges Craig Revel Horwood, 59, and Motsi Mabuse, 43, slated for the upcoming month.

Come September 29, Giovanni’s own venture, Ballando Dance Company, will play host to classes taught by the Strictly judges, with Craig bringing on the razzle-dazzle with a charleston lesson, while Motsi gets toes tapping with a cha cha cha session.

Later that same day, Giovanni himself will be leading a jive class that’s bound to have fans kicking up their heels. The Strictly judging royalty, Shirley Ballas, 63, and Anton Du Beke, 58, already took turns at Ballando, showcasing their dancing expertise.

With the announcement that Craig and Motsi would join the ranks, Giovanni cheekily hinted earlier: “Well… it wouldn’t be fair to only have two of the judges would it.”

The hype for these classes built up when Giovanni gave them a shout-out recently on Insta. His Story echoed a lively call-to-action from the Ballando page: “Is it you coming to learn from [Craig, Motsi and Giovanni]? We’ll be spending the afternoon swivelling, lock stepping and drunken sailor-ing as these pro’s put everyone through their paces!”

Adding more of a buzz about the dance classes, he added: “Book one, two, or all three classes… You don’t have to have dance experience to come along – just a love of dance, and willingness to get stuck in and give it a go!”

This comes after Amanda Abbington, 50, lobbed some hefty accusations of “bullying” and “aggressive behaviour” against her ex-dance pro, Giovanni, from last year’s Strictly. But, Giovanni is inherently denying any “abusive or threatening behaviour”.

Amanda made her first appearance this week in her latest acting gig, the play When It Happens to You. Amanda was moved to tears as she and her fellow actors received a standing ovation on Wednesday’s opening night at London’s Park Theatre.

Despite recent challenges, Amanda reportedly put on a brave face for her stage performance. Audience members praised her ‘strength’ and ‘willpower’.

In a recent statement following Amanda’s interview with Channel 4 News last week, the BBC said: “Anyone involved in a complaint has a right to confidentiality and fair process and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further on individuals. However, when issues are raised with us we always take them extremely seriously and have appropriate processes in place to manage this. As we have said before, we would urge people not to indulge in speculation.”

The statement continued: “More generally, the BBC and BBC Studios takes duty of care extremely seriously. Our processes on Strictly Come Dancing are updated every year, they are kept under constant review and last week we announced additional steps to further strengthen welfare and support on the show.”
