Rita Ora claims pop stars are like ‘athletes’ as she admits stage antic caused injury

Rita Ora explains what it’s really like to be a musician and shares the “toll” it takes on the body.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at Manchester Pride festival, the 33-year-old songstress has lifted the lid on what it’s like to perform for thousands of people for a career. The Kosovo-born singer, who was headlining Manchester’s Pride weekend, gushed over the annual weekend in the Northern city before revealing exciting news about her career.

The Hot Right Now hitmaker gushed: “It means everything to me, because that’s the community that accepted me for who I am, have never judged me and have always believed in my crazy ideas and dreams and inspired me to become greater.

“And you know, I just feel so welcomed and just feel so welcomed and just safe and understood, and the passion and the desires and the love is all that matters with art. Pride is a day of celebration, and it should be every day of the year.”

Rita then explained her pre-show ritual that she will do before every show. She told us: “I warm up for about 30 minutes. And I definitely have to have a good night’s sleep.

“You know, it’s like being an athlete. You really have to prepare your body and get enough rest so you can do a great show.” The artist explained the impact that her wild stage antics have left her with since she catapulted to stardom in 2012.

When asked if she has ever suffered from an injury on stage, the musician confessed: “Yeah, all the time, especially with the neck. You know, doing all these dance moves can definitely have a toll on your body!”

Since she reached international stardom, the hitmaker has branched out into the acting business. The blonde bombshell recently took on the role as the Queen of Hearts in the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red.

Now Rita has taken another major step in her acting career. The artist hinted that she will be filming another smash hit later this year.

Speaking to the Mirror, she teased: “I have been working really hard on new music, and I have something very special coming soon. After Manchester, I’m flying to LA to record more music there. I’m also filming another movie.”

Speaking to Daily Star, the creative hinted what kind of role she could be taking on in her next film. When asked which role she is dying to play, she replied: “Always a villain. I do love and enjoy playing a sort of evil villain character.

“Those characters are so not me naturally. So it’s really cool to just dive into something that’s so the opposite and enjoy that journey.” She famously appeared in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, as well as providing a hit single for the box office hit and more recently Wonderwell.
