Emmerdale regular sacked just weeks after landing new job – and fans are furious

An Emmerdale regular has been given the boot from his new job, much to the dismay of fans.

Newcomer John Sugden (played by Oliver Farnworth), who made a dramatic entrance this year as the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby), quickly stirred up drama in the village, notably with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Unbeknownst to them, he was actually the brother of Aaron’s ex-husband Robert (Ryan Hawley). Since his arrival, John has become a familiar face in the village, clashing with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and getting to know his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).

John even landed a job at Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J. Robb) farm. However, after a bull attack that resulted in Mackenzie being rushed to hospital, things took a turn for the worse at work, reports the Express.

Fans will remember Mack trying to escape by jumping over a locked gate, knocking himself unconscious. Although he regained consciousness, he later collapsed at home and was taken to hospital.

Mack was convinced that John was responsible for the incident due to their ongoing feud. However, John denied any involvement – and during Friday’s episode (August 30), the truth came out.

Moira Dingle decided to let John go from the farm due to the tension between him and her brother.

Moira recalled that she might have inadvertently caused the accident by leaving a gate open. However, despite this revelation, Moira decided to let John go from the farm due to the tension between him and her brother.

Fans were absolutely livid over Moira’s choice on the show. On X, previously known as Twitter, one viewer vented: “She’s seriously sacking John? ! Mack has a job…at the garage.”

Another chimed in with: “Moira, keep John, ditch Mack.” And a third wrote: “Moira sacking John – I don’t think Cain will be happy.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
