Blind Date stars still married over three decades after millions watched wedding

A couple from Cilla Black’s Blind Date are still together three decades later.

In a video posted to X/Twitter, the person recording stopped Sue and Alex in the street to ask if the duo were a couple, which led them to explain their love story. The man said: “We met on television. We met on a TV game show, it was called Blind Date.”

The woman’s face lit up as she mentioned the show’s host Cilla Black, while her husband revealed that fans of the show can “look them up online”. He continued: “17.5million people watched our wedding!”

His wife smiled sweetly and leaned on his shoulder as the pair reminisced their big day. Alex explained his favourite thing about his wife: “The fact that actually, she’s as beautiful today as she was when I first met her,” before Sue added: “He’s so kind and he makes me laugh all the time!”

Their advice for anyone else preparing for a blind date? “Go into it with an open heart and just go in, make the most of it and be positive. And be nice!”

A clip from the episode shows Alex picking Sue from a lineup of three women. Alex wore a smart shirt and suit trousers for his appearance, while Sue sported a glamorous blue dress with voluminous curls to impress her date.

Underneath the tweet, shocked viewers were amazed to see that the couple are still going strong. One person said that it was a “wholesome video” and signed off with a heart emoji.

Someone else said: “How lovely,” while another added: “I remember these two. 35 years! [shocked emoji].” One gobsmacked X/Twitter user even tweeted: “That’s amazing [smiling emoji].”

More people called them “so cute” and “lovely to see” while one kind user typed: “Fella did alright.”

“I watched the show where they met and the date after and remember the wedding and how lovely to see them still married and in love,” said another commenter.

One person commented on “the way they look at each other” while one Blind Date fan demanded: “Resurrect Cilla now. These dating apps have nothing on her! [laughing emoji].”
